Lucknow, February 8, 2026: On the occasion of International Epilepsy Day, Chandan Hospital, Lucknow, in association with the Stroke and Education Society, Lucknow, successfully conducted an intensive 8-hour EEG Workshop titled “Mastering the Waves: EEG Workshop 2026” at the Conference Hall, Chandan Hospital.
International Epilepsy Day is observed globally on the second Monday of February every year. In 2026, this falls on 9th February, and the workshop held on 8th February 2026 marked a meaningful academic prelude to this important global health awareness day, emphasizing the role of EEG in epilepsy diagnosis and management.
The workshop was jointly organized under the leadership of Dr. Farrukh Ansari, Group Director, Chandan Hospital; Dr. Ritwiz Bihari, Head & Chairperson, Department of Neurology, Chandan Hospital and Secretary, Stroke and Education Society; and Dr. Anup Thacker, Head, Institute of Neurosciences, Medanta Hospital, Lucknow and President, Stroke and Education Society.
More than 30 neurotechnicians and young neurologists from Lucknow and adjoining districts participated enthusiastically. The workshop provided a balanced mix of theory, case-based discussions, EEG interpretation, artifact recognition, and hands-on electrode placement, enabling participants to gain practical, real-world skills in EEG recording and reporting.
The academic sessions were delivered by a distinguished faculty comprising experts from RML Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow; Medanta Hospital, Lucknow; Chandan Hospital, Lucknow, and renowned senior neurologist Dr. Atul Agrawal, former Head of Department, KGMU, Lucknow. Their lectures covered EEG fundamentals, epileptiform discharges, normal variants, sleep EEG, and common pitfalls in EEG interpretation.
A highlight of the programme was the EEG Grand Quiz, which saw active participation and keen competition. Winners were awarded trophies and prizes, recognizing excellence and encouraging academic engagement among participants.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizers emphasized that such skill-based workshops are crucial for improving the quality of EEG acquisition and interpretation, which directly impacts epilepsy care. The event reinforced the commitment of Chandan Hospital and the Stroke and Education Society towards continuous medical education and improved neurological care in the region.
